Central Plant Point Cloud

While working for SERA Architects I was fortunate enough to be responsible for using a FARO laser scanner and accompanying point cloud software in the service of SERA’s architectural work. During my time there I successfully sold and delivered a project to create a point cloud of the central plant at the Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon, for one of SERA’s consulting engineers’ projects.

The point clouds, once assembled from many individual scans, were imported into Revit and used to both create and verify modeled geometry. I captured the central plant scans in full color and the resulting point cloud shows the amazing potential for reality capture in an architectural workflow.
